Even if you don’t know what Risk & Regulatory Consulting is, judging by the name you know the site should be designed with professionalism in mind. The people of RRC are nationally recognized as leaders in providing consulting services to insurance regulators. Due to the intense business nature of the site, we went with the common business blue. It’s a comforting color that is a go to in the insurance industry. In order to make the clue stand out we made sure to add a bursting pattern in the background of the photo text. It’s subtle, but gives just enough of a visual to make an impact.

The font on the site is crisp, but approachable. It’s not a simply ordinary font, there is some dimension to it. We find that it’s always the little things such as subtle patterns and slightly different fonts that make a difference in how a website is viewed and the type of clients who utilize the site. Photography on the site is a mix of professional photography of the staff and their offices as well as some stock photography that best represents what they do. It may be simple in design, but we added a lot of little elements to create a modern, clean business site for RRC.

Creating Elegant Beauty Design’s website was entirely about understand it’s owner, Peggy Nicole. Peggy Nicole loves glamour, femininity, and her French background. Her vision was pink, with a lot of flourishing accents and photographs. Our vision was a clean, well constructed informational site that sold Elegant Beauty Design to Peggy’s potential clients. The result is a melding of two ideas to create a clean, feminine website that features flourishes, but also concise information. The site itself is a testament to the collaboration that happens between designer and client, and to our dedication to provide our clients with the very best in design services.

The Elegant Beauty Design site features many of the perks of choosing LT Web Design. The logo featured on the top of the page was designed by us to meet Peggy’s exact specifications. She even received a second logo based on one of her original drawings to feature on the business cards we designed and produced for her. Many of the photographs featured throughout the site were taken in our Wallingford based Studio. The models and dresses were from Bliss Bridal of Cheshire, CT, and Peggy spent an entire day primping and preparing them while we photographed the process and the finished products. Overall the site came together to perfectly represent who Peggy is and how Elegant Beauty Design works.

The obvious choice when designing a website for a machining shop is to use a lot of silver and gray. Luckily TGI agreed that along with the strong metal color, we should also include the hues of blue featured in their logo. The gray with the blue create a masculine feel. The clean, white font takes away some of the bold edge for readability and function. The site itself features plenty of photographs of the work done on site at TGI. We spent a couple of hours inside the facility photographing their work flow, as well as individual parts to be featured in their portfolio. The photographs that rotate on the main header are cut out from the photographs we took and then altered to have a dramatic reflection.

Last post I wrote about the importance of photographs, and TGI is another example. While people in the machining industry understand the terminology used throughout the site, the photographs on TGI’s website are examples in the attention to detail, and expertise that goes into what they do. They stand next to the content as examples to further show potential clients exactly what they’re capable of.

It was important to the client to reference the specific industries they are capable of serving. Even more important than referencing the industries was making sure to correctly word the content written for the site. Our professional content writers are skilled in a variety of content types, but there are always clients who have to abide by certain regulations and restrictions in the way in which things are written. For TGI they are required to state that they are capable of serving, and not that they are serving. In the machining field there is a big difference between the two statements and we had to guarantee accuracy with every mention. Overall the site is a mix of well prepared content, strong photographs, and the perfect colors for a local machining shop.

Andrew Stefanou Salon and Spa is modern, elegant, and bold. We needed to create a website that matched the look and feel of the salon while maintaining the sites purpose as informational. To do this we included large bold photographs, with clean text written over the photographs with a soft steel background. With easy to read menus on every page, new and returning clients of Andrew Stefanou Salon and Spa will be able to find the information they need without the hassle of searching through pages to find it.

All of the photographs of the Salon and Spa were taken as part of the website design package. We were able to go into the facility and photograph not just the working environment, but the staff as well. We will return on another occasion to photograph the rest of the staff in the salon. Photography is such an important part of building a website. Even when stock photographs are used, they work to convey the particular style and mood of the place of business. They help tell a subtle story amongst all of the text your clients may or may not be reading. In a way photos give your clients a sense of comfort that they don’t have to read every word on your site because they are able to form such a clear idea of what your business is all about just from the photographs. We think the photographs for Andrew Stefanou Salon and Spa are both bold and impactful. They convey everything from relaxation to dramatic hair. It’s everything a Salon and Spa site should be and more.

Our Wallingford, CT location gives us a lot of great perks. One of those perks is meeting the many local residents involved with the Wallingford, CT Polish National Alliance, or Lodge 513 to be exact! The local club has so much history, and today’s proud members dedicate their time to preserving their history, and creating a bright future. On top of their dedication to community, they also rent our their main hall and park facility. That is where we come in.

PNA Lodge 513 needed a site that not only represented them as an organization, but also has a rental facility. With plenty of photographs, and compelling text we were able to create a site that balances both sides of their needs. One of the best ways to reach potential members or rental clients is to give them the information they need immediately. Not only is the navigation clean and easy to use, but most pages feature uniformly designed buttons for added visibility of the pages that are most important.

Given the need for photographs of the grounds, we were able to go on location and photograph the various rooms and features for the site. We were also able to use our archive of event photography to find other instances in which LT Photography provided photography coverage at one of their facilities. This enabled us to fill the pages with relevant photographs that give every client a clear idea of what each facility has to offer.

We had a lot of fun designing Prancing Pony’s new website. As a tack shop and a gift shop, the store is a mix of horse culture and beautiful gifts. Knowing that most of the gift products in Prancing Pony are geared towards women, we decided to give the site a feminine look. To then make the site accessible to both male and female clients we made the navigation easy to understand and included a lot of photographs.

The contrast of purple with the browns and neutrals of horse products really makes the photographs stand out and make an impact. The added accents of horse related icons in neutral accent colors adds even more style and impact to the site. When designing a smaller website these details are important to make a potential customer still feel as if they are on the website of a well established company. Even the smallest of businesses can benefit from a simple 5 page website by having a clean, well branded site.

We couldn’t be happier with Prancing Pony’s new site. It’s always fun to design a site that has a bit more flair than the average corporate site. We look forward to Prancing Pony’s continued success!

Kim’s Cottage Confections’ new website is beyond fun. With a lot find details and floating elements, it really catches the eye and shows off the mood of the business. As a cake shop that specializes in wedding cakes, shower cakes, groom cakes, favors and more, we really needed to give the site a consistent look. Each category is very different, but we wanted potential customers to feel as if one service seamlessly transitioned into the next. This way they understood that when you choose Kim’s Cottage Confections you’re choosing a shop that can provide you with custom cakes for every event in your life.

To show off the Kim’s confections we went through all of her original photographs and edited them, so that they really popped on the screen. Then we made sure to fill the site with the images. Any client going to Kim’s Cottage Confections’ website will know right away the quality and level of expertise they should expect.

With every website there are challenges, but it’s websites like this one that really show what we can can give our clients. From our strong marketing background to our technical skill in design. Both came together so well to create Kim’s Cottage Confections.

We recently had the opportunity to photograph the very new Cool-IT drink coolers for their official launch this spring. Opportunities like this are why we love having our studio right next door to our offices. It’s a nice break from design work on our computers to go into the studio and take photographs. It’s easy to think that product photography is easier than portrait photography because the objects don’t move, but in reality product photography is a kind of art all on its own.

One of the most important aspects of product photography is detail. Consumers want to see every nook and cranny, and they want it to be clear and crisp. This means managing the light well enough so that we can guarantee a continuous focus over the entire product. At the same time we want to be able to show the contours of the product – especially when the product has sections dedicated to keeping another product inside. We had to show the curve of the drink cozies in a way that maintained focus, but gave a clear designated spot for each can. We did this by making sure to create subtle, yet strong shadowing inside of the cooler. The shadows show depth and distinction between each curve, but don’t make the photographs muddled or hard to see.

Below is a composite of the various photographs we provided the owners of Cool-IT. We made sure to capture every angle (not all of them are pictured below), and adjusted coloring to guarantee a consistent blue color.

We recently had the opportunity to redesign the Wallingford Alliance Group’s website. As members of WAG, we donated our services to create a fresh new site that was more professional and informative than the previous site. In terms of design we wanted to stay with the steel grey color scheme with some bold design elements – including area and networking related photographs, various gradients, and strong geometric shapes.

Though the site is still a work in progress, it is already leaps and bounds more intuitive, clean and approachable. Our members section now includes photographs, logos, and descriptions of our members. This is a fantastic way for current members to see what other businesses they are working with, and potential members to see what other businesses they could be working with.

The new site is a stepping stone to what we hope is will become as a resource and recruiting tool.

As we mentioned on our Photography Blog, we were lucky enough to photograph the women of The Beauty Bar so that they can feature their entire staff on their website. Along with the staff photographs we will also be adding new bios, and more detailed information to the pages. Our goal with the headshots was to take bright, crisp photographs that show the personality of the staff member as well as the feel of The Beauty Bar. We accomplished our goal by shooting on location inside the salon.

Throughout the process we were consistently mindful of the cleanliness and appearance of the background, as well as the lighting. Certain stations had more natural light available, which meant we had to work with different settings and lighting techniques. Overall the session was a great success. The new photographs show each stunning staff member in their element at the salon, so when clients book they know who they are working with. This is especially important for new clients who may be nervous visiting the salon for the first time, or brides who want to be able to show their bridal party who they will be working with.
